Sarah Rosenblum, Social Media and Content Director, has been with iluma Agency for more than 2 years and is an integral part of our LocalLight franchisee digital marketing program for Orangetheory Fitness.
From engaging social media and blog content to click-worthy Emma emails and ads, she leads our creative team in developing powerful marketing assets that inspire members and leads to start burning and keep burning. She’s also one of the developers and hosts of our OTF marketing webinars, including “Snapchat & Video Marketing Techniques to Amplify Studio Growth” and the “Roadmap to 500” series.
A little about Sarah: She was born in Arlington, Virginia, and also lived in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Maryland before moving to South Florida. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Flagler College and pursued her Master of Arts degree in writing from Nova Southeastern University. A frequent traveler, Sarah recently went on solo hiking trips to Peru and the Faroe Islands, and she even spent a year teaching English in Japan.
She has a lot of stories to share with the office—and lately, they’re all about burning and splat points. Sarah joined Orangetheory Fitness in Miami Lakes and is a proud new member of the OTF Nation.
Why did you sign up?
It was a lot of things all at once. I had stopped going to the gym and wasn’t feeling great. I started noticing my arms in photos—and not in a good way. On a recent hike, I also noticed I was lagging behind the entire group.
I was looking for a major positive change in my life—and one that fit in with my life. An efficient 60-minute full-body workout that keeps burning calories for 36 hours sounded like an awesome fit.
I tried my free session over a year ago and have wanted to join OTF ever since, but I finally reached a point where I was 100% ready to commit, go All Out, and transform my life.
What do you burn for?
I burn for a better life. I want to live as long as possible, experience as much as possible, be happy, and be my best self. YOLO!
I definitely burn for my next trip, and I also burn for food. I am NOT a shy eater.
Favorite part of the workout?
I love it all. I love watching my stats during class and then bothering everyone I know with a screenshot of the email I get after class.
I love that it’s a full-body workout in just one hour and that I’m not wandering helplessly around a gym. I love that the workouts change every day so I don’t get bored. I love the welcoming staff and friendly coaches who approach me to help improve my form (without making me ask—since I’m pretty shy). I even love using the OTF app to book my classes.
I’ve been burning 4 to 5 times a week for a little under a month, and I already see and feel a huge difference. My body is transforming, but more important, I’m happier, more confident, and have more energy than ever.
About 3 sessions in, I was told my face looked younger. Since then I’ve also heard “Are you losing weight?” and “You sure are talking a lot!” (Not sure that last one is a compliment, lol!)
Any bad experience?
I just about cried the time I forgot my Otbeat Flex at home. I will never leave it again! I love seeing the zones change from green to orange to red and passing 12 splat points so I can get the afterburn effect.
I redeemed myself in a small 6:30am class where I was the only one who remembered my heart rate monitor. Talk about my moment on the big screen—my stats took up the whole screen!
How was Hell Week?
I loved the workout themes, everyone brought lots of energy, and I’ve never been so proud of a shirt as the one I earned from Hell Week.
My favorite workout was the final day, when we drew cards telling us what to do next. I picked 2 out of 3 of the “worst” cards (a 36-burpee “floor trick” and 1.5 miles on the treadmill) but loved it anyway.
Day 5 (“Thigh-Day the Thirteenth”) was a fun one, too! (Awesome post-workout group selfie borrowed from Head Coach Andrea at @orangetheorymiamilakes!)
How has being a member affected being a marketer?
It has shown me that everything we’re communicating about the workout is completely true. It’s efficient, fun, challenging, and addictive. The coaches are awesome. The atmosphere is full of an indescribable energy that keeps you pumped while you’re there and always looking forward to your next class. It’s a family I’m proud to be part of. And it’s definitely changing my life for the better—in so many ways.
Being a member of Orangetheory Fitness makes me especially glad to be helping local OTF franchise owners with their marketing. Not only am I connecting studios with new members; I’m helping people like me connect with an amazing workout and awesome brand.
My team at iluma Agency always strives to provide strong content for the OTF studios we work with. Now that I’m a member of Orangetheory Fitness, I’m excited to convert my experience into even better social media content, blogs, Emma newsletters, ad creative, and marketing webinars.
